BIO

Basic Bio:

Kerrie Joy is an artist, educator, and revolutionary. Some have called her an alien.

Born in Brooklyn and raised on a church pew in Newburgh, NY, Kerrie brings her east coast flare and fervency to the stage for every single performance. The truth of her words and the power of her delivery have been said to lift her listeners out of their seats. It is that same magic that has brought her to stages such as the Red Rocks Amphitheater, TEDx MileHigh, City Winery DC, Atlanta, & Charlotte, the 2018 Denver Womxn's March and MLK Marade, and many more. Kerrie channels her creativity through poetry, hip-hop, song, short story, workshop facilitation, event curation, and graphic design. She uses these artistic mediums as vehicles to spread consciousness, inspire civic engagement, plant seeds of self-actualization, and remind us all to have some fun. Kerrie has partnered with organizations such as the Denver Art Museum, Rocky Mountain PBS, Metropolitan State University, UCCS, Warm Cookies of the Revolution, Bro. Jeff's Cultural Center, the American Heart Association, Clayton Early Learning and more. She transforms events into experiences and teaches each audience member how to listen within, then create, then collaborate.

As Kerrie simply likes to say it: “I do dope shit with friends.”

Kerrie Joy is currently based in Colorado and serves as a co-host of The SIP Podcast, and was co-writer of the Denver Dept of Peacekeeping Services in 2020. In October 2022 she served as the Creative-in-Resdience at the Denver Art Museum. In 2023, she made history as the Inaugural Poet Laureate of Adams County, CO. She is currently working on a cultural series named “Unstudied” in partnership with Denver Arts and Venues and Adams County, and is on track to release her first publications and her next music/poetry project.
