Bio

Kerrie Joy is a poet, singer/songwriter, producer, and educator from Brooklyn and the Hudson Valley in New York. She is a proud descendant of the Taino and daughter of Jamaican immigrants. Kerrie was the 2022 Creative-in-Residence at the Denver Art Museum and remains the Inaugural Poet Laureate of Adams County, Colorado, appointed 2023-2025. Kerrie is a curator of transformative events, including Unstudied, an intergenerational music series, and is the editor of For Those Who Dream by Day, an Adams County community poetry anthology. She has performed at Red Rocks, TEDx Mile High, City Winery DC, Atlanta, & Charlotte, the Denver Womxn’s March, Dazzle Denver, The Soiled Dove Underground, and much more.

She lives with her partner, Kristen, chasing waterfalls and good Black art as she pursues her MFA at Randolph College and works on her debut poetry collection, Tempting Utopia. Learn more atwww.kerriejoy.com. She/Her/Hers
